Noted Burgundy collector Douglas E. Barzelay visits a mix of top class Burgundy producers to scout out their 2010s and revisit some 2009s. He supplies detailed tasting notes that not only offer precise assessments of the wines but also contextual perspective on the producers and how their 2009s and 2010s compare to other notable vintages.

Mr. Barzeley covers primarily reds, surveying a range of producers from larger, quality oriented negociants to the likes of Méo Camuzet, Mugnier, Roumier, Ponsat Rousseau and Domaine Romanée Conté. Additionally, he tastes through a narrower field of white Burgundies.

Mr. Barzeley offers high praise for many of the ripe and powerful 2009s. But ultimately he gives higher praise to the 2010s in general for their combination of both power and elegance and their overall greater consistency. This is an excellent insider’s look at what can only be great news for Burgundy lovers, two back to back, outstanding Burgundy vintages.
