This is quite a bold proposition, especially coming from a wine merchant in America that sells American wine. However, much credit is due to Michael Amendola at Windsor Wine Merchants in Brooklyn, NYC for his bravery and well-reasoned article on the subject: “5 Reasons Why French Wine is Better Than American.”

He carefully notes that this is a generalization and not by any means always true. But narrowed down, especially to wines from $10 – $15, his reasons carry some weight, particularly when you consider the character, balance and flavor you can find from France in that price range. And he wryly adds in a sixth reason to boot. Kudos to Mr. Amendola for the courage of his convictions and his good-natured approach to France vs. America.
